Rising third-year Fili Bogdanic worked in a stem cell anesthesiology lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin and participated in research. She helped culture and use immortalized cardiomyocytes to test the effects of anesthetics on them. Afterwards, she traveled to Croatia and Greece for 5 weeks to visit family and friends.

Rising fourth-year Ellie Roberts began her internship at the UChicago Hospital MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics last year as a Metcalf Scholar, and is now working there as a regular intern. Given that her HIPSS major concentration is ‘studies in medical ethics’, she claims her internship was perfect for her, since the whole mission of the Center is to improve the standard of care within hospitals. The MacLean center runs amazing education programs for doctors, lawyers, and religion students, and it has been ranked #1 Medical Ethics Center in the U.S.

Rising second-year Ezgi Cubukcu, on left, spent 3 months in Turkey this summer. During the first two months, she taught English as a counselor to 4-8 year olds at Robert College Summer Program in Istanbul. Afterwards, she spent a month traveling from Istanbul to Ankara to Cesme and back to Istanbul.
