Rising second-year Kathleen Young had the one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to London for the Olympic Games. She enjoyed watching Bolt win the men’s 100 meter final at the track and field finals, as well as Japan beat France in the women’s soccer semifinals. She even met the British men’s gold medal rowing team!

Rising fourth-year Jenna Lillemoe interned at the Minneapolis Heart Institute this summer. She worked with a cardiothoracic surgeon looking at mechanical support mechanisms for heart failure patients. This is a picture of her and one of her co-interns as they performed a porcine heart dissection.

Rising fourth-year Andrea Bischof spent the first ten weeks of her summer in New York working as a Sales & Trading intern for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Now, she is off to Europe with a grant from the UChicago German Department to do research for her senior thesis. In Austria, she will also be attending the European Forum Alpbach on scholarship, where this year’s key seminars explore Expectations - The Future of the Young

Rising second-year Isabella McKinley has been doing research in New York this summer for Catalyst, a nonprofit organization that works with companies to ensure that women, minorities, and LGBT employees have equal workplace opportunities. SHe has also been tutoring low-income high school students for the SAT. We couldn’t be prouder of our Thetas in the Big Apple!
